Andrew Wu performs with many different orchestral and chamber music ensembles throughout the Detroit metropolitan area. Andrew has been a member of the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra since 2004 and more recently held the titled position of Acting Assistant Concertmaster 2013-2016. He also, performs as a substitute musician with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, performs regularly on the Chamber Music at the Scarab Club Series, and has performed on the Nightnotes Concert Series for the Detroit Chamber Music Winds and Strings. As a founding member of the Fleur de Lys Chamber Ensemble (recently re-named Baldwin Ensemble), he has appeared on Stephen Gottlieb’s MusicFest at the Jewish Community Center, the Salon Concert Series at Christ Church Cranbrook, Sunday Afternoon with the Arts in Rochester, 100 Years of Music for the Windsor Community Museum, the Performing Arts Series in Farmington, and the Grosse Pointe War Memorial chamber series to list a few. Andrew has also presented educational and community outreach programs for the Detroit Art House, Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, the Quality of Life Team at Fox Run Novi, and the Public Libraries of Birmingham, Southfield, Rochester and Macomb. The Baldwin Ensemble’s Music Explorers Society is of particular interest for audiences blending performance with history and music appreciation. Andrew has also recently been engaged as Concertmaster for Orchestra Sono, a new orchestra which will serve the Birmingham Bloomfield communities.
