4th Wall Music is a Windsor-based non-profit organization that presents classical chamber music in a unique and inspiring way. We help our audiences find meaningful connections with music by presenting concerts that are educational, interactive, and collaborative. At 4th Wall Music concerts, the musical experience is enhanced with visual imagery and by collaborating with local artists of all types to explore a theme together. Performed by Windsor’s finest local musicians, our concerts often pair classical music side by side with other musical genres such as pop, folk and jazz. We also delve into the meaning behind the music by including expert guest speakers and conversations with the performers. 4th Wall Music audiences are varied and reflecting the diversity of our community is important to us. Our concerts often include guest local musicians and our programming includes works by composers of diverse backgrounds. Our multi-faceted concerts are geared toward all ages encouraging family participation. 4th Wall Music can be a good stepping stone into the world of classical music as well as being a high-quality experience for seasoned concertgoers.
Summary of activity: 4th Wall Music presents five or more chamber music concerts each year reaching hundreds of concertgoers each season. Most of our concerts are performed in the beautiful Capitol Theatre where we encourage a relaxed atmosphere with on-stage audience seating and audience participation. We also often take concerts out of the concert hall and into the community. Locations for past outreach performances include the Amherstburg Freedom Museum, Scarehouse Windsor, Hillman Marshes, John R. Park Homestead, and Hotel Dieu Grace Health Care Centre. 4th Wall Music supports local artists and businesses by collaborating with them to flesh out a musical theme. Examples of past collaborators include the Essex Region Conservation Authority, Royal Astronomical Society of Windsor, Kordazone Theatre, EZ Mode Café (video games), local poets Amina Abdulle and Mbonisi Zikhali, and fiddler Kenneth McCleod. Our concerts are family-friendly and include what we call a “Little Ones in the Lobby” area at where kids can take a break from the concert if needed to do a craft or read a book. In addition to the 5 main concerts, 4th Wall Music regularly launches our season with a “Chamber Music Party” at a local brewery where the audience can relax while top-notch classical musicians have fun sightreading music together, pairing the flavors of beer with music. At 4th Wall Music concerts, we have fun encouraging our audiences to explore music in a multi-sensory way.
